Chengdu in Six Days: A Deeper Screening and the Jiuzhaigou Valleys
Six days: a full screening day in Chengdu, then three days climbing north to Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong.
Six days is what it takes for the medical half to stop feeling rushed. Day one is arrival; day two is a full screening morning at a Chengdu partner hospital — bloodwork, imaging, specialist review — with an interpreter throughout and the report translated into English.
The afternoon of day two is the TCM wellness session: a pulse reading, a herbal soak or a full-body massage, then a slow hour in a teahouse in the old quarter. There is no treatment and no prescription in either half of the day; the practitioner explains what they read and why.
Days three to five run north: Wenchuan, Songpan, the travertine terraces of Huanglong and a full day inside Jiuzhaigou. Day six is the return leg, with time for one last bowl of noodles before the airport.
